Also called TMS, transport management software, delivery management software, fleet and delivery software
A transport management system, or TMS, is where deliveries are planned and followed. It holds the vehicles and drivers, groups the day's orders into trips, puts the stops in order, and records what happened at each door: delivered, refused or nobody home.
Without one, trips are planned on paper or in chat groups, customers call to ask where their order is, and nobody knows what each delivery cost. A failed delivery is only noticed when the goods come back.
A business with three vans and 90 orders a day builds three trips in the morning. Each driver sees only their own stops, takes a photo or signature at the door, and every customer gets a tracking link.
